Stars & Stripes: July 4th Outfit Ideas!
July 2, 2014
Hi dolls!
So with July 4th fast approaching, I wanted to do a little post on outfit ideas for Independence Day! When dressing for the 4th, there is one (obvious) thing to remember: anything red, white, and/or blue totally goes! When looking in your closet you may think to yourself..."But Ashley, I just really don't have anything to wear!" Ok so, here's the deal. I like going 1 of 2 ways on the 4th....either a sundress OR shorts and a cute tank/t-shirt/blouse/etc. Another way to throw together a 4th outfit is sticking with one color (i.e. white) and accessorizing with a different color of the trio (i.e. red or blue). For example....white sundress, red necklace & shoes. Another outfit idea that I LOVE for the 4th is jean shorts. I mean HELLO, they're totally blue....and there's something about denim that just screams 'MERICA! :)
So in my OOTD/OOTN below, I decided to wear my favorite denim shorts from Old Navy with a 4th t-shirt I bought at Target a few years ago (never wore it!), and a new red blazer I bought from F21. This blazer was literally only $11...YES $11! Now, I know you're thinking that MAYBE a blazer may be a little too warm for the 4th. But hello it's RED!! Solution? Show up to your BBQ/party/etc wearing it, then shimmy that baby off as the temps start to rise! Don't forget to throw on your favorite wedges and you've got yourself a patriotic outfit!!!
Also for your July 4th outfit needs, I've provided a little collage inspiration to get your fashion ideas flowing...

"A Girl Named Tennessee"
July 1, 2014
Happy July y'all!
It's no secret that I love the south and I love love love my home state of Tennessee! :) At one of Jake Owen's concerts last year, he wore a Tennessee flag shirt and I quickly became obsessed with finding it. I found out he bought it at a cute store in Knoxville, TN called "Nothing Too Fancy" the night before his concert. I went a few days later and bought one for myself (it comes in women's and men's sizes!) and more importantly found out that I stood in the exact same spot as Jake did when he checked out (haha...I have a slight obsession with Jake Owen...lol). So, in my OOTD below I decided to show my Tennessee pride and wear it with my new lace crochet shorts I bought while I was on my beach vaycay. A good pair of crochet shorts has been on my summer wish list for a while, and I finally found a pair I LOVED by Blu Pepper! I really felt like a "girl named Tennessee" in this outfit....(Ok so if you have never heard that song by NEEDTOBREATHE, play the music video HERE while you read the rest of my post...it'll give some good outfit background music!! haha!)
