Peachy Perfect Polka Dots

May 30, 2013

Hey sweet readers!!

Hope y'all are having a wonderful week! Today I wanted to share another OOTN from my beach vacation. The day before Bill proposed, he dropped me off at Forever 21 with a gift card for me to do some shopping (swoon right? This man knows me well). Hey, he had to get me off his hands somehow to finish up last minute proposal plans (which I had no clue was the reason why he dropped me off, but hindsight is 20/20 :)). He's such a sweetheart!!!!!!!

So as I was making my rounds of F21, this little peach polka dotted dress caught my eye. I just LOVED the color of this dress. I don't own anything in peach and I'm the world's biggest sucker for polka dots, so I automatically knew it needed a new home in my closet. It reminded me of summer sunsets and ice cream all in one dress...funny how fashion can stir up those images! I accessorized it with a black bow belt and black sandals for a night of dinner & dancing. Here's how the look turned out....

Dress: Forever 21
Belt: Body Central
Earrings: Prabal Gurung for Target
Sandals: Gianni Bini
Be sure to check out the peach dress from F21 HERE for $22.80!

What are your go-to colors for this summer? Leave me a comment and let me know! I appreciate you reading!!!

Fresh Color Combination: Green + White

May 27, 2013

Hello dolls!

First of all I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who left all the sweet comments and have sent their love and well wishes about my engagement! We are over the moon excited and your support means the world!!!!

So for my next few posts, I thought I would do some outfit recaps from the beach! For my first post, I wanted to show this green and white print sundress I bought from the Gap Outlet a few weeks ago. I thought it would be perfect for the beach with the nautical rope tie around the waist! Also I just LOVE the green and white color combination for the warmer months; it's so crisp, fresh & vibrant! I loved it paired with my new white wedges by Lucky from DSW! :)

Dress: Gap
Arm Party: H&M, Dillard's
Wedges: Lucky Brand (find them HERE)
Handbag: Charming Charlie's

I hope everyone has a fabulous, fun and safe Memorial Day Weekend!!!! Thank you dolls for reading!

Black on Black

May 13, 2013

Even though bright colors are one of my favorite looks for spring, I still really like to pair black on black for those chillier spring evenings. It's an easy no-brainer for a chic look for a night on the town! I have a pair of black dressy shorts from F21 that have gold leopard print pattern on them, and I love pairing them with a black top. For this OOTN, I also decided to wear my favorite pair of Jessica Simpson heels (remember when my sweetie surprised me with them for our anniversary HERE?)! I love shorts with heels :) Here's how my look turned out....

Shirt: H&M
Shorts: Forever 21
Heels: Jessica Simpson
Sunglasses: Jessica Simpson

I'm headed off to the beach for a few days this morning! I'm so so so excited. I hope everyone has a wonderful week and I will try to do some updates while I'm there! :)

Teal Shorts + Neon Pink

May 7, 2013

Hello dolls!!!

I am seriously loving on some bright colors for spring. Last year neons were a huge hit and this spring it seems that neon is definitely once again in the fashion forecast. My favorite color period is pink, and so I really love neon pink. Last year I bought a fabulous pair of neon pink Guess heels (see the post where I bought them here) that I am always so excited to have the opportunity to wear! I decided to pair them with a pair of teal green shorts I bought from Forever 21 for only $14. Teal and neon pink....what a fun pair!!!

Shorts: Forever 21
Top: NOLA boutique
Heels: Guess
Earrings: Dillard's

Some of my favorite bright shorts are at J.Crew right now, and they are $45. Here's an idea on how to get a similar look with some Guess hot pink wedges and J.Crew green shorts....

My New Favorite Pair of Jeans

May 6, 2013

One of my fashion woes in life has been finding the perfect pair of jeans. You see, one of my main problems is that I am on the shorter side....5'3 and 1/2 (to be exact, that half inch matters!), and jeans always tend to be WAY too long for me. Then enter the trouble of having to take them to get them hemmed and altered. What a hassle right?!

Knowing the trouble I have with jeans, you have to imagine my excitement when I learned that the fashion denim designer, Marcus Hall, of Marc Nelson Denim, who I have written blogs for in the past, was debuting a new women's line of denim. MND jeans are high quality made from raw denim, and as such they are made to not be washed for at least 6 months to let the characteristics of normal wear set in. They are also selvedge denim, which refers to the finished edge of the denim (read an article I wrote about selvedge denim HERE). AND for the cherry on top, he offers personal fittings for your jeans! That translates into a pair of jeans that will fit like a glove.

This past Friday, May 3rd, Marc Nelson Denim had a block party to celebrate the launch of his men and women's spring 2013 collections and at the party they had a seamstress who offered live alterations. I stopped by the warehouse early on Friday and was SO ready and excited to try on a pair of jeans.....

As you can tell in the picture, they are long, but otherwise they fit me perfectly. I couldn't believe how amazing these jeans fit.....seriously like a glove!!!! When I decided which size fit me, the seamstress marked where they should be hemmed while still wearing them and then immediately started sewing.....

While she worked on that I continued shopping and tried on a pair of their high-quality denim shorts.....which I also LOVED. I mean every girl needs a good pair of denim shorts for the summer right?!

While making final decisions on my purchases, my jeans were done! It was truly an amazing experience and it didn't take her any time to hem my jeans. I left MND with a pair of custom fit jeans and was SO excited to wear them for the block party that night (along with my MND scoop neck tank top which you can buy HERE). Jeans are a season-round staple in any girl's closet. You can dress them up with a pair of heels as I do below or dress them down with a cute pair of sandals. One of my favorite spring/summer outfits is a great pair of jeans with a super cute tank top...definitely can't beat it for those chilly spring days and summer nights!

At the block party I was excited to pose beside my new pair of favorite jeans!!!

It was overall a fabulous experience and I'm SO happy to finally say that I have a favorite pair of jeans that fit me PERFECTLY!!! Definitely make sure to check out the Marc Nelson Denim website HERE or stop by the Marc Nelson Denim warehouse if you're in the Knoxville, TN area.

Nail Post: Pink, Polka Dotted & Striped All Over!

May 5, 2013

Hello my lovely readers!

Happy MAY!!! I know it has been a hot minute since I've written a post and let me tell ya I have MISSED blogging!!! I have been taking lots of pictures and have tons of ideas though so since I am done with my first semester of nursing school and will have a little break, I'm going to get back to my old bloggy self!

I thought I would start back with a nail post!!! I know it's been forever since I've done a nail post because I can't have my nails painted at the hospital where I do clinicals for nursing school. So as soon as clinicals were over I scheduled a nail appointment! As soon as I did, I hopped onto Pinterest for some inspiration. On Pinterest I found a super fun design featuring my favorite color color combo: pink, white & black....AND my favorite patterns: polka dots and stripes! Needless to say I was anxious to try it out! Here's how they turned out....

Definitely a fun summer look! Here is a link where I found the original picture! So what are you currently loving for your nails?

Thanks so much for reading dolls!
