Saturday Fashion Inspiration: Coral Jeans!

March 24, 2012

Happy Saturday!!!

To get your Saturday started, I thought I would post a little fashion inspiration from none other than one of my (and countless others’) favorite fashion icons of our generation:  the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. I am obsessed with most everything she wears, not to mention she is absolutely gorgeous and so down-to-earth. Last weekend, Kate made a splash with her coral jeans when she played field hockey with UK's Olympic team. She dressed them up by wearing them with a navy blazer & scarf, then dressed them down on the courts with a grey hoodie and tennis shoes. Perfection!

You know I love me some bright pants, as it was a big trend last fall (read a couple of posts HERE) and it seems it’s definitely going to be in this spring as well! I have a pair of red and cobalt blue, but a pair of coral jeans is definitely on my shopping list for new additions to my spring wardrobe! Check out this Polyvore I made of some of my favorite pairs at different price ranges, all inspired by Kate….

The New Betsey Johnson Nail Polish Collection!

March 22, 2012

Hello dolls!

If you have read my blog before, you may know I absolutely LOVE Betsey Johnson. She is one of my absolute favorite fashion designers (read the post I wrote HERE about her show at NYFW). From her bright colors to her outrageous prints, her party dresses & other clothes/accessories embody everything that is wonderful about being a girl: glitter, sparkles and PINK!

So knowing my love for Betsey Johnson, I was SO excited to hear that Sephora by OPI was releasing a Betsey Johnson nail polish line that includes not only ADORABLE nail polish shades but also nail polish lacquer strips in cute patterns!

Today before my nail appointment I decided to run in Sephora & was definitely overwhelmed at the wide selection of polish shades to choose from. There were individual bottles for $9.50 each and then a mini set of 6 polishes (pictured above) for $24.50. However what caught my attention the most was the hot pink shade called “It’s My Pink!” that is also….wait for it…. SCENTED!!!! You heard me right….SCENTED nail polish!!! The polished is infused with a fragrance from Betsey Johnson’s perfume called “Too Too.” So of course I had to pick that up for my toes….

Even the packaging for the Betsey Johnson nail polish is adorbs!

For my nails, I decided I would branch out and get a set of the nail lacquer strips. If you’re not familiar, nail polish strips are literally just “stickers” you apply to your nails that have fun patterns, colors, etc and can be taken off with nail polish remover. There were 3 patterns (cheetah, skulls & lips) available in the Betsey Johnson line ($12 for a set) but of COURSE I HAD to get the hot pink cheetah print. Can you say TO DIE FOR!?

So with Betsey Johnson nail polish products ready I went to my nail appointment prepared to leave with some FABULOUS nails but first I decided to send out a Tweet discussing my recent Betsey Johnson nail product purchases. And guess who replied to my tweet?!?! That’s right….the one and only Betsey Johnson herself!!!! If you don't already be sure to follow me on Twitter @AshLovesFashion!

My Twitter conversation with Betsey Johnson!!! Love her! If you're not familiar with Twitter, read from the bottom (starting with my Tweet) up.

 Woohoo exciting day!

So I wasn’t sure exactly how the nail polish strips would work but my nail technician is AMAZING and figured it out!!! The packet comes with 16 different sizes of nail polish strips so you can find the correct size for your nail. Once she applied the strip, she smoothed it out to remove any air bubbles. We then cut off most of the excess and filed the rest. One of the best parts is that you don’t have to wait for them to dry!!! Here is how they turned out….

OPI for Sephora Betsey Johnson trend tips...hot pink cheetah print!

I also LOVE the Betsey scented nail polish I used on my toes….it smells AMAZING on, no joke…and the color is not so bad either! ;)

"It's My Pink!" Betsey Johnson nail polish!

Make sure you check out the whole collection by clicking HERE and scrolling down the page to see all the products!!!

So will you be or have you tried any of the Betsey Johnson Sephora by OPI collection!? Leave me a comment & let me know what you think!!!

Thank you so much for reading gorgeous dolls! It’s almost Friday…YAY!

What I've Been Wearing Lately (OOTDs + OOTNs)

March 21, 2012

Hello dolls!

I have absolutely LOVED the warm spring weather we’ve had in Tennessee this past week! Warm weather means a completely new season of spring fashion, and I’ve been more than happy to break out my dresses WITHOUT tights, sleeveless blouses, and sandals!!! Over the past week I’ve snapped some photos of my OOTD’s AND OOTN’s so I thought I would show you what I’ve been wearing lately as the weather has warmed up….

First off we have an outfit I wore this past weekend in Knoxville….a bandage dress, heels & my staple Arm Party!

Dress: Body Shop
 Heels: Guess
Bracelets: H&M

Warm weather has ALSO meant the breakout of this little treasure….

MY JASON WU FOR TARGET PURSE!!!

I carried this baby last weekend! Here’s how I wore it…

Blouse: Banana Republic
  Pants: Tommy Hilfiger
  Ballet flats: GAP
Bracelets: H&M
Ring: F21

The weekend before last I wore a little bit of a “nautical” themed outfit…navy, white & red with stripes for a night out on the town. Also used my favorite trick of layering a top over a bandage dress to make it a skirt….

Navy bandage dress: F21
     Navy/white striped shirt: H&M
   Red heels: Nine West

Spring ALSO means bright colors. One of my fave colors to wear in the warm weather is CORAL! A few weekends ago I paired a coral top with leopard print heels & jewelry! A fun warm-weather look….

Top: GAP
 Jeans: H&M
     Heels: Gianni Bini
So what have YOU been wearing as the weather warms up!? Leave me a comment & share!!!

Thank you SO much for reading as always!!! I am officially over 10,000 page views which would of course not be possible without YOU, my LOVELY readers. I appreciate you sooooo very much!!!!

New Beauty Obsession: Bath Junkie!

March 20, 2012

Good afternoon dolls and Happy Tuesday!

Is it just me, or have you ever dreamed of designing your own signature fragrance???
I mean how FABULOUS would it be to design your OWN signature scent like Taylor Swift, Sarah Jessica Parker, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Rihanna, J.Lo and the countless other celebrities who have their own perfume line?? Well this past weekend my dreams became a reality when I stepped foot inside a little slice of heaven called “Bath Junkie”!

“Bath Junkie” is a chain that recently opened in Chattanooga TN (my hometown) and I finally made my way inside this weekend. To say the least I was VERY impressed!

The first sight you see when you enter is this colorful rainbow display of fragrances….all meant for you to mix together. The different colors represent different “categories” of flavors to help you pinpoint the scents you might like to combine (some of the many categories include florals, fruits, citrus, etc) and within each category are TONS of scents to choose from as you can see below:

SO many scents to choose from!

If the thought of figuring out which fragrance to make overwhelms you, there is a “menu” provided which has some of their most popular combinations. If you have the time, however, it’s so much fun to mix and match and see what scent you like the best. So each little bottle is filled with different scented oil and to make your own scent, you take a strip of cloth and place a drop of the 2-3 scents you like…then rub the oil drops together.

After deciding which fragrance combinations you like, there are still more decisions to make because you then must choose what product you want! That’s right…you can get pretty much ANY product you can imagine in your customized scent: from lotions to body washes to body scrubs. Can you say AMAZING?! Here is the display of all the items to choose from….

The display of products available! Pretty much anything you could think of!

While the decision was tough, I decided to get one of their best selling products, the “Body Dessert Shea Butter Allover Conditioner.” It’s basically a leave-in body conditioner which you apply in the shower but do not rinse off. It leaves your skin SO smooth…I really am enjoying it so far & can already tell a big difference in the way my skin feels!!!! Anyway, once you pick which product you want, you bring the EMPTY container to the area where they create your product right there fresh in the store for you!!!

Where your customized product is made!

You pick your color (nothing but PINK for me of course) and in the process of it being made, they will let you smell it to make sure it’s strong enough and if not you can add more of whichever scent you want! They then mix the product in a blender and after making a CUSTOMIZED label….you have your finished product:

My customized Body Dessert!

The adorable customized label on the back!

My favorite combination was cupcake + blackberry sage. It’s fruity and girly! :)

Bath Junkie is a fabulous store!!!! I can’t wait to go back and make more items in my customized scent (cupcake + blackberry sage….or maybe even something else!?)

Visit the Bath Junkie website HERE where you can find a location nearest you!!!!

Thank you SO much for reading!!! Hope y’all are having a great week!

Ashley

I was just THAT excited about this new collection (Essie's Spring 2012 Collection!). Click the play button to watch my video review & see my nails in action lol:

Top Coat: OPI Muppet Collection "Fresh Frog of Bel-Air"
Bottom Coat: Essie Spring Collection 2012 "Navigate Her"

Check out the mini set I show in the video from Ulta by clicking this link

"My Favorite Color Is Neon...."

March 5, 2012

Happy Monday and Happy MARCH!!!! I hope y’all had a fun weekend & are having good start to another week!

I don’t know about you, but I am SO ready for spring!!! The title of this post might have given a little hint as to what I wanted to blog about tonight (it’s from a country singer Chris Young’s song called “Neon”). So have you guessed it yet?! Yes, I wanted to share with you a little trend that’s huge this Spring: NEON!

It was seen all over the runway for the Spring 2012 Ready to Wear shows….

Nanette Lepore Spring 2012 RTW
Look at those neon accessories!

Neon color blocking w/ yellow & orange. Pretty!!!

Milly Spring 2012 RTW
Neon orange pants! Nice!

The shades to keep a lookout for are orange, yellow, green and my personal favorite PINK!  There are SO many ways you can wear neon….it just depends on your mood and how much attention you want to receive ;). So, for those of you feeling a little less adventurous…stick to ONE neon piece (I personally LOVE the idea of neon heels or accessories such as belts). However, if you are on the team “I love to make a fashion statement”, try neon color blocking!!! That’s right…pair your bright yellow skinny jeans with a hot pink blouse for a head-turning outfit!

Personally, while I do love to make a fashion statement, I plan on sticking with neon accessories to ease this trend into my wardrobe (especially a neon BELT-that’s def on my list for my next shopping trip!).

Here is a Polyvore I made to hopefully inspire you to think NEON:

So lovely readers, what are your thoughts on neon? Will you be incorporating this trend into your wardrobe this spring? I love to hear your thoughts, so please leave a comment below :)

Thank you for reading!!! Have a good evening!

Ashley
