Rainy Day Fashion & OOTD: New Bright Pants!

October 13, 2011

Good afternoon lovely readers! Can’t believe it’s already Thursday; hope y’all are having a great week! I’ve been busy but have had some fun too visiting with friends who’ve been in Chattanooga!!! My college roomie was in town Tuesday and we got to spend the day together having fun girl time…ate a yummy lunch, went to the TN aquarium, had dessert at Rita’s, went to Chattanooga’s HUGE Forever 21 (it’s a site to behold!), & ate dinner at Las Margaritas (if you know me, this is one of my favorite places…also known as Las Mas). It was rainy Tuesday so I was able to break out my leopard print Coach rain boots with my matching purse. Sometimes I actually enjoy the rain because it gives me an excuse to wear these boots!!!
Trench Coat: Forever 21 (see how I wore it in this blog post: OOTD & OOTN: Knoxville Style) Jeans: H&M Rain Boots: Coach Purse: Coach
Sweater: Forever 21
Picture of our OOTD!!! Love her sweater dress!!
And just for fun...I need to work on my "terrified because there's a shark behind me" face!
I used Polvyore to create some of my favorite rainy day ensembles. There’s nothing I love more on a rainy day than to wear my rain boots with tights and a dress/tunic OR with skinny jeans tucked into my boots! The black and pink pairs of boots in the Polyvore below are by Hunter…I don’t own a pair of Hunter rain boots but have heard a lot of great things about them. Hoping to purchase a pair, maybe in that fabulous pink below, sometime! Also pictured is one of my FAVORITE things to wear with my rain boots when it gets chilly: fleece sock inserts. In the Polyvore I chose some made by Hunter called “Welly Socks.” These are great to wear with your boots when it gets chilly…they keep your feet SO much warmer than regular socks!!! The socks come in different colors/patterns which can add a punch of fun to solid colored rain boots (I own a pair of pink ones and love wearing them with my solid black rain boots!).

Then yesterday, Wednesday, one of my BFFs Sherrie was in town!!! I was a lucky girl and got to spend time with her yesterday afternoon!! Soooo if you remember I did a post on bright pants (click here to read: Bright Pants Trend) and I was SO excited to find a royal blue pair for $22.80 at Forever 21 when shopping with Stacey on Tuesday (find similar jeans here: Forever 21 Bright Blue Pants). I know I’ve said this before, but when purchasing an item that is so “trendy” Forever 21 is a great place to look because you don’t have to invest a ton of money into something you may only wear one season. I couldn’t wait to wear them so I sported them when hanging out with Sherrie yesterday! I used the Polyvore I made a couple of weeks ago (in the bright pant blog post above) as inspiration when creating an outfit with my new pants. This is just an example of how you can take a look you create in a collage or someone else puts together (i.e. a celebrity in a magazine) and make it your own. I didn’t have the EXACT shoes, shell to wear under the blazer, or necklace that I used in my Polyvore but I was able to re-create the look by using pieces I already own.
The first picture shows how to make the pants more casual by wearing them with flats without a blazer, which is how I wore them:
Bright Pants: Forever 21 Long Sleeved Shirt: H&M (remember when I wore it here belted & with black pants: OOTD & OOTN: Knoxville Style) Ballet Flats: BCBG
Next step, add heels to make it a little dressier...
Heels: Guess Necklace: Stella & Dot (I LOVE this necklace, you can wear it wrapped around once or twice. Find it here in silver : Stella & Dot Adrienne Mixed Chain Necklace)
And then finally, add a blazer...
Blazer: Target (Click the link to read how I wore this blazer with regular blue jeans: Transitioning into Fall: OOTD & OOTN)
ORRR you even can go without shoes like Sherrie & I did hanging out!!!

What do you like to wear when it's rainy and are you going to wear bright pants this fall?! Leave me a comment below!!! I absolutely LOVE writing these posts so I really appreciate you taking the time to read them!!!

Xoxo,
Ashley
