Mixed Bag Monday

October 10, 2011

I would like to call this blog post “Mixed Bag Monday” because I have some random things to blog about tonight!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I was back in Knoxville for the UT vs GA game & wanted to show you my OOTD/OOTN for the game Saturday night & to go out with friends after. I once again decided to go with a belted look…one of my favorite things to wear right now! I wore a shirt I recently bought at Forever 21 for around $14…they have a GREAT selection of plaid shirts right now on the cheap! Sooo, if you’re looking for something to wear to a game in your school’s colors, I would check F21 b/c they have some great options right now!

So here’s why this post is a bit of a mixed bag…I also wanted to talk about some of my favorite makeup products in MY makeup bag right now! So have any of you ever had the problem of your eye shadow creasing??? I absolutely HATE when mine creases & I had that problem until I started using “Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer” by Too Faced.  It is described as “your full coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked shadow disasters”…which is 100% true!!! You just use a dab on each eye lid before applying your eye shadow. This product works wonders to help your eye makeup stay in place all day long! Too Faced is one of my absolute favorite brands sold at Sephora & Ulta …they have wonderful eye shadow colors and I love using “Shadow Insurance” to make sure my eye makeup always stays in place:

Since we’re on the topic of eyes, I absolutely LOVE trying new eye shadows. One of my favorite ways to do this is to buy eye makeup palettes because you get a sample of so many different shades. I may do another post on some of my favorite Too Faced eye shadow palettes, but tonight I wanted to talk about a couple of eye palettes I love from the makeup line called E.L.F. (eyes lips face).  My college roomie introduced me to this line last semester and I’ve been hooked ever since! One of the BEST things about this line is the price…it’s incredibly cheap; you can’t beat the prices!!! It is sold at Target and has EVERYTHING you could ever want in a makeup line (besides awesome eye shadows): lip glosses, bronzer, eye liner, foundation, mascara, makeup brushes, etc.

So the first palette I’ve really enjoyed is the “E.L.F. Beauty Eye Book-Smoky.” It is only $5 and you get 12 eye shadows and eye liner! What a steal!!! It comes with instructions on how to create 2 smokey eye looks – 1 for the day and 1 for the night. I really like the colors and they are long-wearing (especially when using the Too Faced eye shadow primer underneath):

The 12 shades inside! My favorite is the purple on the 2nd row...it goes on light but can be layered to make it darker.

The step-by-step guide on the inside cover of the palette on how to create a day and night smoky look!

Find the above palette online here: ELF Smoky Eye Palette

The next palette is my absolute favorite… “elf Eyeshadow Palette Vol. 1.” It contains colors in shades of browns and neutrals, which I wear a lot more often, and contains a good selection of both matte and shimmery colors. I really like to blend the different shades to create many looks. It is also a steal…$5 for 32 shades!!!!
